Ordinary people, especially the young, give generously to those in need, whether they are Africans, tsunami victims or the inhabitants of Boscastle. Those in positions of political or religious power may wish to ferment hatred due to the opportunity that wars and terrorism give for obtaining power, status and money, but ordinary people know the true meaning of Pluto in Sagittarius and Uranus in Pisces - transformation and change happen best through peaceful means.

Aries
Finances and relationships will be under an intense spotlight this autumn and it may be necessary for you to do some pruning in both these areas. Check your spending and see if there is a drain that you can plug. If one particular friendship, association or relationship comes to an end, accept that change happens and go with the flow.

Taurus
Lucky you! Mars will spend the whole of autumn in your sign, energising you and pushing you in new directions. You are normally resistant to change, ultra conservative and utterly reliable – but now you will astonish your friends and loved ones because you will demonstrate an unusual level of dynamism in business and a desire to kick over the traces in love.

Gemini
They say that the course of true love never did run smoothly, and this autumn it will be like living on a roller coaster. It is just as well that you are capable of loving more than one person at a time because this month you will need to exercise your talent for ducking and diving, while coping with new love interests at every turn.

Cancer
Your favourite place is your home and your favourite people are your loved ones, but the key to your future is not to be found at home or with blood relatives. Friendships group activities, clubs, societies and joint ventures will be enticing and exciting. In some strange way, group activities open the door to a happier future.

Leo
I was chatting to my neighbour, Lisa, the other day. Lisa is a Leo, as are most members of her family and she has a Leo baby due to be born any day. Scorpio
It is not like you to neglect romance and passion, but the last few months have been as loveless as the Sahara desert. Now, things are set to change and your hormones will soon come alive again. Be open to offers of parties and outings, because you never know where your new love interest will come from. Those in loving partnerships will be happy.

Sagittarius
Pluto continues to bring transformation to your sign but the main effect will focus on those born in the third week of December. If your birthday falls earlier than this, you will consolidate your gains and focus your attention on your work. Nobody likes the idea of doing chores but it feels so good when they are done and dusted.

Capricorn
Being the worker of the zodiac, you rarely find yourself short of money, but the last couple of years have drained your reserves. From late October onwards, join with others for the purpose of making money making. This will help you to feel more secure than you have for some time past and even to indulge yourself a little.

Aquarius
The autumn season starts with work first, but soon you will be able to get out and about and to make new friends. Once the planets start to lighten up, you will enjoy some celebrations with your family and with your newfound pals. If life is slow, it will speed up greatly in November when both Saturn and Uranus turn to forward motion.

Pisces
A new job or a new business venture is taking up much of your time and energy these days, so it is hard to find time for fun. Even your pastimes will have a serious edge to them as you will seek out educational opportunities or study some special subject. Finances are very tight in October, but November brings extra cash, which alleviates the problem.
